JetBlue: New Direct Flight Between NY-La Romana

On Wednesday, November 16, JetBlue announced that it will begin direct flights between New York to La Romana, on the country’s eastern region. Currently, Jet Blue is the only airline offering these non-stop flights in this particular route. The low-fare U.S. airline will fly Wednesdays and Saturdays between Kennedy Airport and La Romana International Airport.

In total, Jet Blue currently flies 169 weekly flights to the Dominican Republic from New York, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and San Juan (Puerto Rico). From New York City alone the airline runs 119 flights a week to the Dominican Republic. Ninety-one of these flights land at the Las Americas International Airport, in Santo Domingo, and fourteen in the “Gregorio Luperon International Airport” in Puerto Plata, on the country’s north coast.

“We are the country’s largest domestic carrier and will continue to grow by adding more options and new destinations both for visitors and residents,” said Scott Laurence, Jet Blue’s vice president.

La Romana International Airport is located minutes away from the world-famous “Casa de Campo” resort, in the country’s southeast region.

Flights have been scheduled for Wednesdays and Saturdays, leaving New York’s Kennedy Airport at 8:36 in the morning and arriving in La Romana at 1:31 in the afternoon.  The return flight to New York City leaves Santo Domingo at 2:26 p.m. and lands at Kennedy Airport at 5:26 p.m.

Last April, American Eagle, an affiliate of American Airlines, launched a daily flight between Miami and La Romana. The flight leaves Miami at 1:05 p.m. and arrives at La Romana International Airport at 3:20 p.m.  The return flight to Miami leaves La Romana at 3:55 p.m. and arrives in Miami at 6:35 p.m.
