On Wednesday, November 16, JetBlue announced that it will begin direct flights between New York to La Romana, on the country’s eastern region. Currently, Jet Blue is the only airline offering these non-stop flights in this particular route. The low-fare U.S. airline will fly Wednesdays and Saturdays between Kennedy Airport and La Romana International Airport.
In total, Jet Blue currently flies 169 weekly flights to the Dominican Republic from New York, Boston, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and San Juan (Puerto Rico). From New York City alone the airline runs 119 flights a week to the Dominican Republic. Ninety-one of these flights land at the Las Americas International Airport, in Santo Domingo, and fourteen in the “Gregorio Luperon International Airport” in Puerto Plata, on the country’s north coast.
“We are the country’s largest domestic carrier and will continue to grow by adding more options and new destinations both for visitors and residents,” said Scott Laurence, Jet Blue’s vice president.
La Romana International Airport is located minutes away from the world-famous “Casa de Campo” resort, in the country’s southeast region.
