The US-based Salamander Hotels & Resorts began running the Sanctuary Resort & Spa located in Cap Cana, as of this past October 1. The resort, consisting of villas, apartments, a marina and golf course, is situated in Punta Cana, on the country’s easternmost region. The project features 176 beachfront rooms (72 fifty-five-square-meter junior suites), all overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The hotel also offers a 510-square-meter suite, and the Island Suite, built on its very own island. The new facility also offers five gourmet restaurants, five bars, a world-class spa, access to the Punta Espada golf course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, and a 1700 square-meter convention center.
It is the second hotel in Cap Cana run by the Salamander Company. The other facility is the Fishing Lodge Cap Cana Salamander Marina & Beach Resort. This last hotel offers 299 villas and apartments, four restaurants, three bars and four swimming pools. In addition, access to the Punta Espada golf course, a marina, and a yacht rental facility for those interested in deep-sea fishing or in a recreational boat ride. These two facilities do not offer all-inclusive packages, which is the norm in most Punta Cana resorts.
