Sting, one of Britain’s most important rock stars, will perform at “Altos de Chavon” Amphitheater on September 4. Situated minutes away from the city of La Romana, on the eastern region of the Dominican Republic, the Amphitheater is an attraction in itself.
This will be the second time that Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner brings his international concert tour to the Dominican Republic. The first time was in 2006.
Sting will be accompanied by a band of four top-rated musicians: guitarist Dominic Miller, pianist David Sancious, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and singer Jo Lawry.
The British musician has received 16 Grammy awards and sold over 100 million albums worldwide. He has also won a Golden Globe, an Emmy and three Oscar nominations.
He is also a member of the exclusive Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his many years as a member of the influential rock band The Police. “Altos de Chavon” was built in the 1970s to resemble a medieval European village. It is situated in “Casa de Campo,” one of the most popular Caribbean resorts. The Theater opened in 1982 with a stellar performance by Frank Sinatra.
