Jarabacoa: Where Spring is Eternal!

Known as the ecological capital of the Dominican Republic, the central mountain town of Jarabacoa is quietly nestled between lush green valleys and the highest mountain tops in the Caribbean.

Jarabacoa is also known as the town where spring is eternal.  It is also near the “Pico Duarte”, situated 3,175 meters above sea level, the highest in the entire Caribbean.

The average temperature in this farming community is 22 degrees (Celsius), a truly comfortable climate for the Caribbean. One of the town’s most important industries is its flower nurseries.  Because of the dynamic growth of this sector, the town now celebrates an annual Flower Festival to honor the town’s patron saint.   Another important event is the Festival of Poetry from the Mountain, which brings together renowned local and foreign poets.
